The conference, delivered in partnership with the Faculty of Public Health (FPH), offered delegates an opportunity to delve into the breadth of UKHSA's work – from scientific research to impactful policy – across local, national, and global levels.

The organisers chose to bring the conference to Manchester Central with a focus on growing the event. They were looking for a venue that could meet their increased capacity requirements and house all elements of the conference in one place. In addition, the venues excellent travel connections, central city location and nearby accommodation and social options made it an ideal choice.

Exchange Hall was used as the main plenary space, with repeater screens rigged up to allow all attendees to clearly see the digital content. Breakout sessions were located in the Charter Suite and a number of our smaller Exchange meeting rooms were used for private meetings.

With the increased attendance, several popular sessions required last-minute room changes to make sure all delegates could attend. Ensuring minimal disruption to delegates, our team were able to manage these changes, update signage and communicate updates to stewards.

Central Hall 1 was used for the events exhibition element as well as the main catering area. The organisers recognised that catering could significantly enhance the delegate experience and were pleased to introduce a hot-fork buffet for the first time. Daily menu variations ensured delegates had fresh and diverse meal choices throughout the event.

The conference fell during Ramadan, so our team also created a bespoke end-of-day Iftar refreshment package for observing delegates.

β€œThe venue made planning our large-scale event straightforward and seamless. The exceptional support from the staff, combined with the well-designed spaces, helped create a central and engaging hub for our conference delegates.

For the first time we were able to hold our conference all on one floor under a single roof, which really fostered a sense of togetherness among attendees. After a 15-month break, it was great to see so many conversations happening and feel the energy between colleagues and partners.”
